The Figure Skating Federation of Russia has confirmed that there will be no fans in attendance at the third stage of the Cup of Russia series in Sochi. Scheduled from October 23 to 27, the event will take place at the practice rink next to the Iceberg Skating Palace – which hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Currently expected to take part in the third competition is two-time Russian National champion and winner of the first stage Anna Shcherbakova, 2015 World champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, 2019 European champion Sofia Samodurova, 2020 European champion Dmitri Aliev, 2020 World Junior champion Andrei Mozalev, two-time Russian National champion and World medalist Mikhail Kolyada, 2020 European champions Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovskii. Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov, who withdrew midway through their free dance performance in the second stage due to an injury, are also hoping to take part.
The first stage of the series was held in Syzran with a small audience; the second stage in Moscow had a limited amount of spectators during the senior level events but the 12,000-seat Megasport Sport Palace was empty for the junior competition.
