Two-time Russian National bronze medalists Tiffany Zahorski and Jonathan Guerreiro delivered two impressive performances at the third stage of the Cup of Russia series.
After a great rhythm dance to music from The Greatest Showman, their free dance was to 2WEI’s Survivor. Zahorski and Guerreiro presented good skating skills, on-point synchronization, and great style. The couple earned a total score of 201.02 points and won gold at their first competition this season.
The new ice dance couple of Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva and Egor Bazin, who won at the first stage of the Cup of Russia, were the only ones who could challenge Zahorski and Guerreiro in this competition. They were second after the rhythm dance by just over a point. Skating to Ludovico Einaudi’s Experience and a piano version of Jay-Z’s and Kanye West’s song, Khudaiberdieva and Bazin presented a wonderful program and earned a total score of 197.00 points.
Yulia Tulceva and Anatoly Belovodchenko were third after the rhythm dance. Eleventh at Russian Nationals last season, the young couple demonstrated many improvements and received a total competition score of 147.20 points to win bronze medals.
Silver medalists at the second stage of the Cup of Russia, Ekaterina Mironova and Evgeniy Ustenko were fourth after the rhythm dance. A few mistakes cost them points but they received a total score of 140.10 points and stayed in fourth place.
Two weeks ago, the young couple of Elizaveta Pasechnik and Egor Kolosovskii withdrew from the second stage of the Cup of Russia after the rhythm dance, but presented two performances in Sochi. Pasechnik and Kolosovskii lacked experience and confidence; a few errors in the free dance earned them a total competition score of 125.07 points and placed them in fifth position.
