World and European Championship medalist Mikhail Kolyada, who made his return to competition this past weekend in Sochi – after a nineteen month absence, landed a quadruple Lutz-triple toe loop combination in practice.

Last weekend, Kolyada landed a quad toe loop-triple toe loop combination to start his free skate at the third stage of the Cup of Russia series. Next, he landed another quad toe loop. Owner of an Olympic silver medal from the team event at the 2018 Winter Olympics, Kolyada received a total competition score of 283.44 points and won the gold medal. He changed his coach to Alexei Mishin before the season, after having worked with Valentina Chebotareva since the age of five, and it proved to be a successful move.
This upcoming weekend, Kolyada will be back in action at the Ice Star competition in Minsk.
