Guliakova leads Ice Star after short program

Both of Alexei Mishin’s ladies placed in the top two spots in the short program of the Ice Star competition in Minsk.

Anastasiia Guliakova began her short program performance with an unsuccessful triple axel attempt. She followed the jump with a triple flip-triple toe loop combination and a triple Lutz. The 18-year-old earned a total short program score of 67.51 points and is currently first.

2019 European champion Sofia Samodurova took second place with a total score of 66.77 points. Russian-born Belarussian representative Viktoriya Safonova earned a total score of 66.56 points and is currently third.

The top three are separated by just 0.95 points; the competition continues Sunday, with the ladies’ free skate scheduled at 15:00 Minsk local time. For information about the schedule and other events taking place in Minsk – click here.
