Two-time World champion Evgenia Medvedeva will not take part in the Russian stage of the ISU Grand Prix series this upcoming weekend.
The 20-year-old figure skater has not yet recovered from a back injury, which has kept her sidelined throughout the season so far. News agency TASS published a report stating that the information about her status has been provided by Aleksandr Gorshkov, President of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia.
Moscow will host the Rostelecom Cup from November 20 to 22 at the Megasport Sport Palace, and it will be headlined by the top Russian skaters. Medvedeva will be replaced by Elizaveta Nugumanova at the competition. For the schedule and current list of participants, click here.
In order to take part in this season’s Russian National Championship, each skater must compete in two stages of the Cup of Russia series; however, some of the country’s top skaters – including Medvedeva – have not been able to do this. Therefore, her participation in further events this year is unknown.
