Winners of the fourth stage of the Cup of Russia series in Kazan two weeks ago, Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov opened their short program performance with a three twist lift. Skating to music from La Esmeralda, Mishina landed a triple Lutz throw and then held on to her triple Salchow attempt during the side-by-side jumping sequence. Impressive lifts and great skating skills earned the pair a standing ovation and a total performance score of 79.34 points for first place.
2020 European champions and last season’s Russian National Championship gold medalists Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovskii began their performance with a side-by-side triple Salchow attempt. Skating to music from the Soviet drama film The Captivating Star of Happiness, the pair then completed a three twist lift and then Boikova could not cleanly hold on to a triple flip throw. The skaters received a total short program score of 78.29 points and are currently second.
2020 World Junior champions and winners of the 2020 Youth Olympics in Switzerland, Apollinariia Panfilova and Dmitry Rylov skated to music from Joker. They opened their routine with a good triple twist lift and landed a side-by-side double axel. Panfilova held on to a triple flip throw. The young pair, making their season’s debut after missing the opening stages of the Cup of Russia series, received a total short program score of 73.84 points in their first senior level competition. They are in third position.
Silver medalists at the second stage of the Cup of Russia series and fourth place winners at the highly competitive fourth stage, Iasmina Kadyrova and Ivan Balchenko opened their short program performance with a triple twist lift and both skaters then landed a side-by-side triple flip. A good triple loop throw and a good performance overall earned the pair a total score of 70.62 points. They are currently in fourth place.
Winners of the first stage of the Cup of Russia series in Syzran, Iuliia Artemeva and Mikhail Nazarychev landed a side-by-side triple toe loop and then Artemeva successfully landed a good triple loop throw. The bronze medalists at last season’s World Junior Championship, this young pair received a short program score of 70.11 points.
Silver medalists at the first stage of the Cup of Russia series and second place winners at last season’s World Junior Championship, Kseniia Akhanteva and Valerii Kolesov landed a side-by-side triple Salchow early in the performance. There were a few errors but the pair earned a short program score of 67.50 points and are sixth.
Hungarian representatives Ioulia Chtchetinina and Mark Magyar opened their performance with a three twist lift. After an error by Magyar on the side-by-side triple toe loop, the tenth place winners at last season’s European Championship received a short program score of 58.60 points.
