2020 European champions and 2019 World Championship silver medalists Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov were great as always. The couple performed for the first time since withdrawing in the middle of their free dance performance at the second stage of the Cup of Russia series in Moscow this past October. They earned a total score of 91.13 points to take the lead after their rhythm dance routine.
Skating to music from The Greatest Showman, winners of the third stage of the Cup of Russia series Tiffani Zagorski and Jonathan Guerreiro performed a great opening program at the competition. Great sequences and great synchronization earned the bronze medalists of last season’s Russian National Championship a total rhythm dance result of 84.46 points. They are currently in second position.
Fifth at last season’s Russian Nationals, Anastasia Skoptcova and Kirill Aleshin delivered a great performance. This season, due to all of the changes because of the coronavirus pandemic, the scores at the ISU Grand Prix series do not count towards the official personal best results. Skoptcova and Aleshin earned a total score of 79.75 points, which would is way bigger than their best score of 71.17 points from a Challenger Series event in 2018. They currently stand in third place.
Silver medalists at the first stage and winners of the second stage of the Cup of Russia series, Annabelle Morozov and Andrei Bagin performed their rhythm dance to music from the musical Chicago. They earned a total performance result of 76.21 points and are in fourth position.
The new couple that teamed up in May of this year, Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva and Egor Bazin made their international competition debut skating together. This season, the two skaters won the opening stage of the Cup of Russia series in Syzran and placed second overall at the third stage in Sochi. They received 76.10 points for their rhythm dance at the Rostelecom Cup and occupy fifth place.
Ukrainian skaters Alexandra Nazarova and Maxim Nikitin were the winners of this season’s Budapest Trophy. They earned a total rhythm dance result of 74.86 points. Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevicius skated a great rhythm dance. The experienced couple from Lithuania were emotional after the performance, and received a total program score of 72.43 points.
Hungarian representatives Anna Yanovskaya and Adam Lukacs earned a rhythm dance score of 61.34 points. Silver medalists at the second stage of the Cup of Russia series in Moscow, Ekaterina Mironova and Evgenii Ustenko received a program score of 56.47 points. Belarussian representatives Viktoria Semenjuk and Ilya Yukhimuk made their season’s debut at the Ice Star competition in Minsk several weeks ago, where they place first out of two couples. At the Rostelecom Cup, the ice dancer earned a total score of 56.22 points.
