2020 European champions and last season’s Russian National Championship gold medalists Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovskii began their performance with a side-by-side triple Salchow attempt. Skating to music from James Bond, the pair then completed a side-by-side triple toe loop-double toe loop-double toe loop combination, a triple twist lift, and Boikova held on to a triple flip throw and later a triple loop throw. The skaters received a total competition score of 232.56 points and took the gold medal at the Russian stage of the ISU Grand Prix series.
Winners of the fourth stage of the Cup of Russia series in Kazan two weeks ago and leaders after the short program, Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov opened their free skate performance with a three twist lift. Skating to music by Queen, Mishina landed a triple Lutz throw and then single a jump on the triple Salchow-Euler-single Salchow attempt during the side-by-side jumping sequence. They landed a side-by-side triple toe loop and Mishina held onto a triple loop throw. Impressive lifts and great skating skills earned the pair a total competition score of 225.80 points – enough for the silver medals.
2020 World Junior champions and winners of the 2020 Youth Olympics in Switzerland, Apollinariia Panfilova and Dmitry Rylov presented their free skate to music from Third Person. They opened their routine with a high triple twist lift and attempted a side-by-side double Salchow. Panfilova held on to a high triple loop throw and a triple flip throw later in the routine. The young pair, making their season’s debut after missing the opening stages of the Cup of Russia series, received a total competition score of 210.07 points in their first senior level competition. They earned a bronze medals.
Silver medalists at the second stage of the Cup of Russia series and fourth place winners at the highly competitive fourth stage, Iasmina Kadyrova and Ivan Balchenko opened their short program performance with a triple twist lift and both skaters then landed a side-by-side triple toe loop. Kadyrova made a mistake on the exit of the first triple throw and an held on to a later triple loop throw but the pair recovered from that with a good side-by-side triple Salchow-Euler-triple Salchow combination. They earned a total competition score of 204.67 points are ranked in fourth place.
Winners of the first stage of the Cup of Russia series in Syzran, Iuliia Artemeva and Mikhail Nazarychev performed a good free skate. Skating to music by Queen, the bronze medalists at last season’s World Junior Championship received a total competition score of 200.77 points and placed fifth in their international senior level debut.
Silver medalists at the first stage of the Cup of Russia series and second place winners at last season’s World Junior Championship, Kseniia Akhanteva and Valerii Kolesov struggled in the free skate. Even with three deductions, the young pair earned a total competition score of 173.63 points to remain sixth overall, where they were after the short program.
Hungarian representatives Ioulia Chtchetinina and Mark Magyar opened their performance with a three twist lift. Tenth place winners at last season’s European Championship, the pair received a total competition score of 163.77 points.
