Leaders after the rhythm dance, reigning European champions and silver medalists at the 2019 World Championship, Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov skated to music by Michael Jackson. Performing in their first competition since withdrawing in the middle of their free dance performance at the second stage of the Cup of Russia series in Moscow this past October, the couple started out smoothly. Minor errors but hey earned a total score of 217.51 points to win the Russian stage of the ISU Grand Prix series.
After a great rhythm dance to music from The Greatest Showman, two-time Russian National bronze medalists Tiffani Zagorski and Jonathan Guerreiro delivered another impressive performance to take the silver medal at the Rostelecom Cup. Winners of the third stage of the Cup of Russia series, Zagorski and Guerreiro performed a great free dance program to 2WEI’s Survivor. The couple presented good skating skills, on-point synchronization, and great style. The ice dancers earned a total score of 206.91 points.
Fifth at last season’s Russian Nationals, Anastasia Skoptcova and Kirill Aleshin delivered two great performances. Performing their free dance program to music from the film Fifty Shades of Grey, 20-year-old Skoptsova and 23-year-old Aleshin earned a total score of 199.25 points. They finished the competition in third place, winning their first Grand Prix medal.
The new couple that teamed up in May of this year, Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva and Egor Bazin made their international competition debut performing together. This season, the two skaters won the opening stage of the Cup of Russia series in Syzran and placed second overall at the third stage in Sochi. Skating to Ludovico Einaudi’s Experience and a piano version of Jay-Z’s and Kanye West’s song, Khudaiberdieva and Bazin presented a wonderful free dance program and earned a total score of 193.18 points. They improved to fourth place after placing fifth for the rhythm dance.
Silver medalists at the first stage and winners of the second stage of the Cup of Russia series this season, Annabelle Morozov and Andrei Bagin were fourth after the rhythm dance. They earned a total competition result of 191.00 points and dropped to fifth position.
Ukrainian figure skaters Alexandra Nazarova and Maxim Nikitin were the winners of this season’s Budapest Trophy; they earned a total competition result of 188.25 points and were sixth overall. Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevicius presented two great programs at the competition. The experienced couple from Lithuania were emotional after each performance, and received a total two-day score of 182.56 points. They held on to seventh position.
Hungarian representatives Anna Yanovskaya and Adam Lukacs earned a total competition result of 163.65 points and placed eighth. Silver medalists at the second stage of the Cup of Russia series in Moscow, Ekaterina Mironova and Evgenii Ustenko received a total competition score of 152.14 points and finished the event in ninth position.
Belarussian representatives Viktoria Semenjuk and Ilya Yukhimuk made their season’s debut at the Ice Star competition in Minsk several weeks ago, where they placed first among two couples. At the Rostelecom Cup, the ice dancers earned a total competition score of 146.38 points and placed tenth overall.
