Two-time World champion Evgenia Medvedeva – who has been sidelined this season due to a back injury – made a post on Instagram to update her supporters about her health.
From Evgenia Medvedeva’s Instagram story:
Medvedeva has been unable to participate at any of the first four stages of this season’s Cup of Russia series and was also forced to withdraw from the Russian stage of the ISU Grand Prix series because of her ongoing recovery from a pinched nerve in her spine.
Having celebrated her 21st birthday last week, some media organizations reported that Medvedeva has contracted the coronavirus disease and is currently quarantining. In her Instagram post, the figure skater mentioned that she is dealing with a severe cold but did not elaborate further.
There is reason to believe that Medvedeva will be able to participate at the Russian National Championship in the end of December, even though the original qualification was announced as two appearances at the Cup of Russia series. That has yet to be determined by the Figure Skating Federation of Russia and, obviously, Medvedeva’s physical shape.
