A source informed Russian news outlet RIA Novosti that the Figure Skating Federation of Russia plans to hold a domestic team competition in February.

Following the cancellation of the European Championships, which were supposed to take place in late January in Zagreb, the Russian figure skating executives expressed their desire to hold additional tournaments in the country to keep their athletes active before the World Championships. The latter event is still expected to take place in March; yet, the International Skating Union (ISU) will make their decision on the competition on January 28.

According to the RIA Novosti source, the team competition planned for February will take place in Moscow – most likely at the Megasport Sports Palace a week after the Russian National Junior Championships, which are scheduled to take place from February 1 to 5 in Krasnoyarsk. Supposedly, two teams will compete in the event – made up of the best skaters according to the results of the Russian Championships, in addition to members of the national team who were not able to participate at nationals.
