The official Instagram account of Eteri Tutberidze’s team uploaded a video of 14-year-old Kamila Valieva landing a quad Salchow during practice today.

Valieva is the 2020 World Junior champion and the 2019-2020 ISU Junior Grand Prix series champion. Due to the cancelation of all major international junior competitions this season, the big favorite at next year’s Olympics has been competing on the tough Russian senior circuit – winning a silver medal at the second stage of the Cup of Russia series behind two-time World Junior champion Alexandra Trusova, a gold medal at the fifth stage of the series, was the silver medalist at the Russian National Championships just behind three-time champion Anna Shcherbakova, and recently landed a triple axel and two quad toe loops in the free skate during the Channel One Trophy team competition.

Valieva currently holds the junior world records for the highest total and free skate scores. She will turn 15 years old on April 26 and will be eligible to compete at the senior level in international competitions next season.

The quad Salchow received praise from Olympic silver medalist and two-time World champion Evgenia Medvedeva in the comments of the Instagram post.
