Reigning three-time Russian national champions Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov will miss the final of the Cup of Russia series later this month.
The pair’s coach Maxim Trankov told Russian news agency TASS that the silver medalists in the team event at the 2018 Olympics will instead take part in the International Challenge Cup in The Hague, Netherlands.
This year, the Figure Skating Federation of Russia decided to change the selection process that they normally use for the World Championships and only the gold medalists at the national championships qualified to represent their country in Sweden this March. The remaining participants will have to qualify at the Cup of Russia Final. Tarasova and Morozov already clinched their spot with a win in Chelyabinsk this past December.
