2018 World bronze medalist and three-time Russian champion Mikhail Kolyada will not participate at the final of the Cup of Russia series next week.
The general director of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia, Alexander Kogan, informed Russian news agency TASS that Kolyada will instead take part in the International Challenge Cup in The Hague, Netherlands.
This season, the Russian figure skating federation decided to change the selection process that they normally use for the World Championships and only the gold medalists at the national championships qualified to represent their country in Sweden this upcoming March. The remaining participants will have to qualify at the Cup of Russia Final. Kolyada, who turns 26 years old on February 18, already qualified to Worlds by winning his third national title in December.
