ISU Council Meeting decisions regarding figure skating

The International Skating Union (ISU) reported the decisions made in the ISU Council Meeting on March 2, which took place online. The discussions mainly covered the 2020-2021 season’s ISU Event Calendar.

The Council confirmed that the 2021 World Figure Skating Championships will go on as scheduled – from March 22 to 28 in Stockholm, Sweden. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the event organizers have already previously informed that the competition will take place in a bubble.

Regarding figure skating, the meeting also decided that the results from the 2020 World Junior Championships will determine the entry quotas for the 2021-2022 ISU Junior Grand Prix series because of the earlier cancellation of this season’s World Juniors.

The Council confirmed the qualification system for the 2022 Winter Olympics, which will be based on the results from this month’s World Championships and the results of the 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy, scheduled to take place from September 22 to 25 in Oberstdorf, Germany.

The next online Council meeting will take place on April 8.
