In a conversation with Russian sports news publication Sport Express, well-known producer and co-owner of Angels of Plushenko Yana Rudkovskaya spoke about the nuances of Alena Kostornaia’s contractual obligations.
Rudkovskaya informed the publication that because Kostornaia is 17 years old, and thus a minor, her mother signed a contract on behalf of her with Angels of Plushenko. In order for Kostornaia to return to Eteri Tutberidze’s group, the Khrustalny club must pay Evgeni Plushenko’s academy.
Rudkovskaya, who is also the wife of Plushenko, told Sport Express: “As for the contracts with her mother, we really didn’t take a penny from her advertising contract, we transfer the amounts in full every month. Yes, all sponsorship agreements of our athletes are also with the club; our good will is to leave everything to Alena, without any deductions. But there is a contract with the club itself, a training one, directly related with the work of an athlete at Angels of Plushenko. It contains non-disclosure provisions, so I cannot comment on anything about this topic. A certain amount of work has been done, the costs for it need to be compensated. And then the question is for the club to which she leaves. If they really want Alena Kostornaia, if they need her – the club will pay. Well, or someone will pay. But I can say for sure that if we took an athlete with such a contract, we would definitely pay.”
