2015 World champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva posted two photos on her Instagram stories wearing the Russian national figure skating team gear.
In the first image, the 24-year-old athlete wrote “Thanks for the new outfit” and tagged the accounts of Channel One, Rostelecom, and the Figure Skating Federation of Russia.
Due to the decision by the Court of Arbitration of Sport at the end of 2020, Russian athletes cannot represent Russia at World Championships and the Olympic Games – that is, compete under the Russian flag or the country’s national anthem – until mid-December 2022. Therefore, Russian figure skaters will compete representing the Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FSR) and will use an excerpt from Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 at awards ceremonies.
The new gear contains the traditional red and white colors, and have the logos of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia, Channel One, and Rostelecom.
Currently, the figure skaters of the Russian national team are in Novogorsk. They will fly to Stockholm, Sweden for the 2021 World Championships on Saturday on a charter flight. Only the skaters, their coaches, doctors, as well as federation officials and Channel One journalists will be onboard the Boeing 737.
