Sources close to the situation informed Russian sports media Telesport about the changes to the qualification process for the 2021-2022 International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix Final.
According to the sources, figure skaters will be selected to the final based on the total points scored after two stages of the series.
These changes come following requests from the Figure Skating Federation of Russia to redistribute the quotas for Russian skaters after it became known that their athletes will not be able to compete in the first two stages of the series in France due to quarantine and vaccination requirements for Russian citizens entering the country.
Following the redistribution of the quotas, Russia will be sending four participants in each discipline to each of the remaining stages. Due to the increased of participants in those remaining stages, it was proposed to change the qualification process.
