At the first stage of this season’s Cup of Russia series, 2021 World bronze medalist Alexandra Trusova took part in a competition for the second time within a week.

The two-time World Junior champion began her short program performance with an unsuccessful triple axel attempt but completed the next two jumping sequences – a triple flip and a triple Lutz-triple toe loop combination. Trusova received a score of 74.53 points.

Following the short program, Trusova withdrew from the competition and will not participate in the free skate event tomorrow.

2015 World champion and 2021 World silver medalist Elizaveta Tuktamysheva opened her short program routine with a successful triple axel; however, the 24-year-old figure skater struggled on the following jumps – she doubled the second jump in the triple Lutz-double toe loop combination and then doubled her final flip. The failed flip attempt cost Tuktamysheva all of the points for the element because it was required to be a triple. She received a score of 70.66 points and is in second position.

14-year-old Veronika Yametova did not attempt a triple axel but landed a good double axel. She also completed a triple Lutz-triple toe loop combination and a triple flip. The young skater from Sverdlovsk Oblast earned a score of 65.49 points and is currently third.
