Sofia Muravieva leads ISU Junior Grand Prix event in Austria after short program

At the final stage of this season’s International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix stage, in Austria, Russian figure skater Sofia Muravieva took the lead of the junior women’s event in a close battle after the short program.

Runner-up at the third stage of the series, Muravieva began her performance with a double axel, and later completed a triple flip and a triple Lutz-triple toe loop combination. The representative of Angels of Plushenko received a new season’s best result of 73.28 points.

Winner of the second stage of the series, American figure skater Isabeau Levito landed the same jumps as Muravieva but her step sequence was graded as Level 3, as opposed to the leader’s Level 4. The 2021 U.S. junior national champion received a new season’s best score of 71.32 points.

Silver medalist at the fourth stage of the series, Anastasia Zinina did not make any major errors and remains in close contention – within four points – for the top position. She completed the same technical elements as the two leaders and received a score of 69.77 points for her performance.
