At the final stage of this season’s International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix series, Sofia Muravieva delivered a clean free skate and edged out Isabeau Levito to win the Russian junior women’s fifth consecutive gold medal and qualify for the Grand Prix Final.

The 15-year-old had a quad planned in her routine but did not attempt it . None of her closest competitors successfully completed or attempted quads, thus a clean performance guaranteed the top position in the competition. Muravieva began her free skate with two double axels, landed a triple loop, and completed a triple flip-double toe loop combination. In the second half of the performance, she landed a triple Lutz-triple toe loop combination, a triple flip-Euler-triple Salchow combination, and a triple Lutz. The Angels of Plushenko figure skater received a new season’s best score of 138.53 points and earned a total competition score of 211.81 points.

Winner of the second stage of the series, Isabeau Levito did not intended to attempt any quads and also delivered a clean routine for a new season’s best score. The 14-year-old American landed the same exact jumps as the eventual winner, just in a different order. Levito received a score of 136.99 points for her free skate presentation and earned a total competition result of 208.31 points.

Another of Evgeni Plushenko’s students, 14-year-old Anastasia Zinina had a big opportunity to overtake the top two competitors with two quads scheduled in her free skate program. However, Zinina fell on both of her opening quad toe loop attempts. The remainder of her performance was completed successfully but it wasn’t enough to improve from third place after the short program. She received the third best free skate score of 120.89 points and earned a total competition score of 190.66 points.
