Alexandra Trusova leads at the 2021 Skate America after short program

At the first stage of the International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix series event – the 2021 Skate America, Russian women unsurprisingly took the first three positions in the short program. 2021 World bronze medalist Alexandra Trusova was the top performer.

Skating to music from the film Frida, Trusova began her routine with a double axel and later completed a triple flip and a triple Lutz-triple toe loop combination. The 17-year-old figure skater received a score of 77.69 points for her presentation.

Another Russian representative from Eteri Tutberidze’s team, 15-year-old Daria Usacheva, also completed all of her jumps successfully. She landed a double axel, a triple Lutz, and a triple flip-triple toe loop combination. The 2020 World Junior silver medalist earned a score of 76.71 points for her short program performance.

Silver medalist at the 2020 Youth Winter Olympics, as well as gold medalist in the competition’s team event, Ksenia Sinitsyna of Russia also posted a short program score over seventy points. The 17-year-old completed a double axel, a triple flip, and a triple Lutz-triple toe loop combination. Sinitsyna received a score of 71.51 points.
