Next weekend, Japan will host the fourth stage of this season’s International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix series – the 2021 NHK Trophy; however, 2021 World bronze medalist Alexandra Trusova will not participate.

The Russian figure skater did not fly to Tokyo this weekend, as she is recovering from an injury, and will withdraw from the competition. This also means Trusova will not meet the qualifying criteria to advance to the ISU Grand Prix Final in December.

Trusova participated at Skate America two weeks ago and was victorious, even with a leg injury. Following the event, the 17-year-old took a week off to recover from the injury.

Participants in the women’s event are now scheduled to be Daria Usacheva, Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn, Kaori Sakamoto, Rino Matsuike, Young You, Eunsoo Lim, Seoyeong Wi, and Nicole Schott.

Earlier, Olga Mikutina and Rika Kihira also withdrew due to injuries.

Yuzuru Hanyu withdrew from the NHK Trophy last week as well.
