Popular Russian late night television talk show Vecherniy Urgant (English: Evening Urgant) announced on social media that filming of episodes featuring figure skaters will take place this week. The episode will air on Friday, December 3, on Russia’s Channel One and simultaneously on YouTube.
On December 1, the filming will feature four Russian women from Eteri Tutberidze’s team – Anna Shcherbakova, Kamila Valieva, Maiia Khromykh, and Alena Kostornaia – who all qualified for the following week’s International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix Final in Japan. The following day, figure skating coach Tatiana Tarasova will participate in a recording of the show as well.
Update: December 1, 2021
Vecherniy Urgant is hosted by Ivan Urgant and is similar in style to American late night talk shows – inspired by the likes of David Letterman and Jimmy Fallon.
Shcherbakova and Kostornaia have previously appeared on the show. Most recently, Shcherbakova was featured after winning the gold medal at the 2021 World Championships. The translation of that episode to English is on our website.
