Norway resubmitted proposal to raise age limit for figure skating

The Norwegian Skating Association confirmed to Russia’s Match TV that they have resubmitted the proposal to raise the age limit for figure skating. This will be considered at the International Skating Union (ISU) Congress in 2022.

Officials from Norway stated that their proposal is to allow participation in the senior level from the age of 17 for women and men, and from the age of 16 for pairs and in the ice dance discipline. The changes to the rules are suggested to start for the 2023-2024 season.

According to the proposal, if any figure skaters participate in the European Championships, the Four Continents Championships, or the World Championships in 2023 – they would be allowed to remain in the senior level for the 2023-2024 season even if they do not meet the age criteria yet.

The 2022 edition of the ISU Congress is expected to take place from June 6 to 10 in Phuket, Thailand.
