Nikolaj Memola wins Santa Claus Cup in Hungary

On the last day of the international figure skating competition in Budapest, Hungary – the 2021 Santa Claus Cup – Italian representative Nikolaj Memolo won the men’s event and celebrated his first international senior level victory.

The 18-year-old figure skater was first after the short program and only increased his advantage after the free skate event. Memolo did not attempt any quads but was one of only three other competitors who avoided falling during their routines. He began his performance with a triple axel-double toe loop combination, a solo triple axel, a triple flip, and then a double axel. In the second half of the performance, Memolo completed a triple Lutz-triple toe loop combination, a triple Lutz-Euler-triple Salchow combination, and a triple loop. He received a score of 150.35 points for the free skated and earned a total competition score of 228.35 points.
